Coach Finley Read Ship

Finley Read came to Lomberton High School in 1960 where he began his long career coaching football and baseball alongside his friend Alton “Tooney” Brooks.  The two became known, fondly, as “Batman and Robin”.

As assistant varsity football coach, JV basketball coach, and Head Baseball Coach for many years, the Pirate teams became highly respected as among the toughest competitors in the state.

The finished ship seen here, cradled into the special mount between two miniature goal posts.

Oficially completed on May 10th 2012.

Presented to Coach Read with the greatest love and respect.
